Geeta Danappagoil, native of Nagnur village was born in farmer’s family and had joined Judo training at Belagavi sports hostel in 2008 when she was in sixth standard and learnt till 2019 under the able guidance of Judo coach Triveni in Belagavi. She is the third girl from Belagavi from Belagavi who bagged ‘Eklavya award’ in Judo Sports. Rohini Patil of Chandgad town and Malaprabha Jadhav of Turmuri village, Belagavi who both got trainied in Belagavi sports hostel have bagged this award earlier.

Geeta had bagged silver medal in 5th All India open Judo championship in Pune 2017 and had also participated in World School Games held at Turkey in 2016. The silver medal in both junior and senior categories of Commonwealth Judo Championship that held at Jaipur in the year 2018 has helped to get nominated and win the prestigious ‘Eklavya award’ for the year 2018.

Geeta Danappgol dedicated this success and award to her mother Renuka and coach Triveni. They are the person who shaped my life by encouraging me everytime. This award is booster for me to perform more better in future. I have plans to continue practicing in coming days’ she said.

Similarly, Vinayak Rokade of Kudachi village, Belagavi taluk who is captain of the Karnataka volleyball ball team has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Eklavya award’.

Vinayak presently working with Indian post office in Bengaluru has represented Indian volleyball team. His performance in international events at South Africa, Myanmar, and Iran is exceptional. He has been trained under Belagavi coach basavaraj hosmath, and Krishna Gowda.
