Belagavi: The district authority has taken decision to celebrate Kanakadas Jayani in a simple manner in the wake of Covid-19.
DC MG Hiremath presided over the preliminary meeting held on Wednesday (Nov. 25) in the hall of District Collector’s office. The portrait of Kanakadasa will be garlanded at the Kanakadasa Circle near BUDA office at 9.30 am on the 3rd December. The stage programme will be held at the Basavaraj Kattimani Auditorium in the premises of the Kumara Gandharva Rangamandir. A special lecture program on Kanakadasas will be held, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional DC Ashok Dudagunti said that the celebration would be a simple way of maintaining the social distance and without violating the Covid-19 rules.
Chandrashekhar Nilakar, deputy police commissioner of Belgaum, Assistant director of Kannada and culture department Vidyavati Bhajantri and community leaders were present at the meeting.
