Belagavi: Polling returning officer appointed at Desur village in Belagavi taluk, Suleman Sanadi, was found with a loaded pistol on Monday night when the police personnel were verifying the election meterials after arrival to the polling station on Monday evening. Informig the higher officials, Police have recovered the pistol from the staff and the staff has been replaced. The taluk returning officer have submitted a report to the Deputy commissioner and reccomended to cancel the gun lisense of the staff and take further action.
Senior police officer has said that ‘a report has been submitted to the district authority regarding the PRO who was having loaded pistol with him when he was on election duty. The police have found the pistol with him when they were checking the election meterials after arriving to polling station.
Deputy Commissioner MG Hiremath said ‘We have considered this incident seriosly. The concerned Tahasildar and police officer have taken necessary action already. Based on their report, discplinary measures will be taken against the officer. He further denied the rumour spread in Desur village that a ballot paper leaked in village. ‘We have verified and such thing not happened. The candidates might have canvassing by printing pamphlet similat to ballot paper’ he said.
