Belagavi: The many year’s dreams of border district Belagavi getting it’s own Information Technology (IT) park is expected to come into reality soon. Fortunately, the deputy chief minister, minister for higher education, IT-BT and Science and Technology, Skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood Dr Aswath Narayan CN has backed this project.

On Saturday, he met Raksha(defence) minister Rajnath Singh at Air force base, at Yelhanka in Bengaluru. He briefed him about government’s vision to expand Karnataka’s IT sector beyond Bengaluru which would involve setting up an IT Park in Belagavi.

In light of this, he placed a request for the handover of 750 acres of revenue department land currently under the authority of the Department of Defence to build the Park in Belagavi. He is confident of getting the land to expand the IT park in Belagavi.

It can be recalled that Belagavi south MLA Abhay Patil had introduced a private bill in the assembly session for the expansion of IT park in Belagavi. He identified an over 700-acre land at Pune Bengaluru national highway near Kanabargi. However, many projects of Belagavi are pending in projects due to the lack of land availability and land conflicts.

Belagavi already has an IT park but has very less land and no basic amenities. And also no IT companies have set up their plants in this park so far.
