Belagavi: The Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Belagavi district unit has planned to conduct the 14th district level Kannada literary meet at Kagwad town in the boundary of Karnataka-Maharashtra states. The meet is scheduled to be held on January 30 and 31.

Kagawad is the last Taluk of the state situated in the boundary of the Karnataka. If one travels just 4 kilometres from here, he will reach to Maharashtra. In such a town, by conducting a Kannada convention, the Parishat has planned to spread the love of Kannada in the minds of border area people. It will be a Kannada fair to be held at the border area.

According to the organisers, the meet will be held at the Mallikarjuna Vidyalaya in the Kagwad town on January 30 and 31. Karnataka Lingayat Education Society Chairman Prabhakar Kore will be the President of the meet. The dais will be named after Mirji Anna Ray for the meet and the main pendal will be named after Gurubasava Swami of Athani Motegi Math.

The flag hoisting of the meet will take place at 8 am on January 30. The procession. will be held at 9 am. Taluk Panchayat Chairperson Krishnabai Nandale and Vice President Shobha Bandagar will inaugurate the procession at morning 9 am. The procession will pass through the village panchayat office, Hanuman Mandir and the Channamma circle. KSP President Manu Baligar will inaugurate the meet at 11 am while textile minister Srimant Patil will preside over the meet.

Basavalinga Swami of the Mallikarjuna Gurudevashrama, Neelakantheshwara Swami of the Mahant Durudundeshwara Math, Yateswarananda Swami of the Mallikarjuna Gurudev Ashram will grace the occasion by their divine presence.

With the Karnataka-Maharashtra border dispute is in peak in the border district, Kannada lovers on the other hand have come together to make Kannada fairs on the Karnataka-Maharashtra border.
