Belagavi: Two Hescom officers were arrested on Friday by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while taking Rs 65,000 bribe to install the new power transformer.

Belagavi: HESCOM Lolasoor section officer Prakash Virupaksh Parit and Supervisor Mallaya Kumaraswamy Hiremath are the arrested corrupt Hescom officials caught red-handed while taking bribe.

A power transformer that is installed in the agricultural land of Anand Uddhappa Dharmatti, a farmer of Moodalagi Taluk was not working frequently due to the over a load of power supply. So when the farmer requested the HESCOM officials to replace a new TC, the Section Officer Prakash Parit and Mallaya Hiremath demanded Rs. 65,000 from farmer Anand Dharmatti. Fed up by this demand, he had complained about the anti-corruption bureau.

On receiving the complaint, ACB SP in the conducted the investigation. Under the guidance of SP BS Nemagouda, ACB Deputy Superintendent L. Venugopal have registered the case. When the Hescom officials demanded a bribe of Rs. 65,000, ACB staff including Sunil and AS Gudigoppa have raided and arrested the accused. Officers after investigating have handed over the accused to judicial custody.
