Belagavi: The vaccination for COVID19 pendamic has arrived at Belagavi on Wednesday early morning. After it reached the office of the District Health Officer in Belagavi, the vehicle carrying COVISHIELD vaccine was given a grand welcome with ‘Band Baja’ play at the entrance of DHO office.

In the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mahantesh Hiremath, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Shashikant Munyal, and other medical officers, the 1.47 lakh doses of the ‘COVISHIELD’ vaccine which arrived from Pune of Maharashtra in 13 boxes were relocated in the Walkin Coolers.

Traditionally, the women staff of the DHO office welcomed the vehicle carrying vaccine by offering Arati and performing Pooja. Then the medicines were unloaded from the vehicle.

The vaccination drive will commence at 12 centres from January 16. A total of 180 vaccination centres have been identified and set up for vaccination. The doses of the vaccines will be provided step by step at these centres. A list of 37,000 Corona warriors who are medical staff has been prepared to for first phase vaccination in the district said DC MG Hiremath.

The supply of vaccine will continue step by step and the vaccination process will be in progress accordingly. The vaccine will be supplied to Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Koppal, Gadag, Haveri, Uttara Kannada, Haveri and Dharwad district from Belagavi. The vaccine vans will carry the vaccine to these districts from Belagavi. One centre will vaccinate 100 people each day. The staff has been trained for the vaccination said DC Hiremath.
