Belagavi: After turning the most successful airport for having the highest number of flights to many more cities carrying a good load, the Belagavi airport is now scaling up the cargo service month after month.

The cargo Logistics and Allied Services of the Airport Authority of India(AAICLAS), a subsidiary of the Airport Authority of India which is managing cargo services at the international and domestic airports of India have started the cargo services at Belagavi airport from July 2020. Since then the cargo services in Belagavi airport is achieving new heights.

According to the statistics revealed by the airport authority of India, 4 metric tonnes of goods has been transported in July 2020, 6.3 metric tonnes in August 2020, 9.4 metric tonnes in September 2020, 8.8 metric tonnes in October 2020, 10 metric tonne in November 2020 and 8.5 metric tonnes in December 2020.

In it’s official Twitter handle, the Airport Authority of India has said that despite fluctuations in the tonnage handled at Belagavi airport, the Cargo Logistics and Allied Services team is working hard during COVID19 situation to ensure the timely delivery of perishable and essential goods with 100 % care through the safest mode of travel.

The Belagavi airport officials have also said that there is a good potential of Cargo in Belagavi airport. All the agencies are working hard to for cargo movement through the terminal building.

It was the dream of Belagavi MP, Union minister for state railways late Suresh Angadi to export the quality vegetables grown in and around Belagavi, the foundry products of Udyambag and Sarees manufactured in the Shahpur to the abroad through Cargo service. He had laid the foundation for this and it is growing into big month after month.
