Belagavi: Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) raided the houses of the assistant executive engineer of the Public Work Department(PWD) and his relatives for possessing illegal asset which is worthy of more than his income. ACB sleuths raided at five places in Belagavi and Khanapur at the time and conducted the inquiry till Friday late night.
Manoj Suresh Kavalekar, assistant engineer at PWD office-1, Belagavi is the officer facing the ACB inquiry. Officials raided at his residence at Ayodhya Nagar, his office at PWD department, his flat at Malhar residency, Mahadwar road owned by his sister Rajashri Kawalekar and at Farmhouse at Sangargali village in Khanapur taluk owned by his sister.
In a raid, ACB officials have seized huge gold, silver ornaments, cash and other valuables. It is also said that the officials have found papers of illegal properties and assets and conducted a further investigation about the more assets till Friday late night.
Manoj Kawalekar had created assets more than his income from all sources. After ACB sleuths had got the information, they had registered a case on December 17 and conducted a raid on December 18 morning. The investigation is being conducted under the guidance of district superintendent of Police of ACB Nyamgodar.
